At Princes Risborough Nursery family and community are embedded in our culture. We scaffold learning opportunities for the children so they have a strong understanding of the amenities provided locally and how we can use them. We teach them about the local businesses we can support and about services there to help us – such as the police, dental practice, and fire station.

We plan trips for the children around the local community as often as possible to familiarise, revisit, embed, and expand their knowledge of the world around them.

The children enjoy visits from the local fire fighters where they learn how to contact emergency services, how the fire fighters help us, and where to find the fire station locally. We visit the local butchers and bakery to aid the children’s cooking with fresh local ingredients.

Frequent visits to the town library and The Princes Centre help to build on the children’s early years opportunities and enhance their sense of belonging in the community.

We enjoy picnics on warm sunny days to the local park. The children have also made their presence known in the community as they completed a fund raising two mile walk around Princes Risborough, and gave flowers to those in the community on ‘Random act of kindness’ Day’.
