At Princes Risborough nursery we strive to give the children the cultural capital they need for future success, to give each child the best start and opportunities, enabling them to fulfil their full potential to achieve basic skills and aid future success.

We are passionate about creating opportunities for the children to believe in themselves and their abilities, become independent learners who strive and take on challenge.

At Princes Risborough Nursery we embed in our weekly routine extra curricular activities for the children. Our Chef supports the children with cooking activities as we recognise this to be a valuable life skill. This also enriches their knowledge in maths, as they count their scoops, identify numbers and quantity on the scales, whilst also make predictions. We build on fine motor skills to enable the children to strengthen their fingers and develop coordination and control as they learn to peel, dice, stir, spread, break and slice and the understanding of food preparation and where it comes from and to explore colour and textures.

Every Wednesday we have Le Club Francais French Language Programme come into nursery to hold a class for the children. The programme is designed around the Early Years Framework and feeds into the key areas of learning and development.

Our sessions combine music, movement, games, let’s pretend, story telling and actions whilst having the added benefit of learning French. The weekly classes are tailored specifically for babies, toddlers and pre-schoolers with fun and interactive activities that are age appropriate and designed to capture the interest of our young learners.

Language learning in early years enhances culture capital, giving our children the best possible start to their early education and supporting their roles as effective global citizens. Language learning also supports cognitive skills such as problem solving, critical thinking and attention span.

Early childhood is the most rapid period of development and a key period to begin language learning. Children’s brains are highly receptive to language learning and they are able to learn new words and phrases quickly and easily.

We also hold fortnightly sports sessions.
